Slit by Susan Isla Tepper

Between yesterday & today
a small slit of time
presented
the way you sneak open
an already sealed envelope
careful not to tear
Time opened to us
unbending; some would say
by chance.
I believe the only option
available— required
to keep us going.
The rest receded:
filthy, in waves
cresting to smash a shoreline
dropping coiled debris
the likes of scrambled brains
& those emotions
no longer to be contained.

Susan Isla Tepper is a twenty years published writer in all genres.  Her current project is an Off-Broadway Play on the subject of art and life.
