there’s a half dozen
bottles of whiskey
in my liquor cabinet
all with the same measure
about a dram
it seems I’m afraid
to finish that last shot
that last swallow
afraid the memories
that came with those bottles
will be swallowed
straight away
gone forever
Jason Baldinger is a poet hailing from Pittsburgh and recently finished a stint as writer in residence at the Osage Arts Community.
