Christmas Medley, fifth of December by Melanie Browne

 You have to swim with
the current you know?
close your eyes the
algae isn't too bad,
water not blue but
not grayish- brown

Mom likes her alcohol sweet
Deep South egg nog
with the plantation on the label
or Baileys Irish Cream

I made some homemade once it
was a labor of love,
Mom loves Christmas,
wrapping paper makes her giddy

The shallower the water
the weaker the current,
Christmas is beautiful
but I'm always against
the current

Burgermeister- Meisterberger
can always keep order
I can relate to him
on an emotional level

I recently learned through
a Facebook post that
George Bailey had PTSD,
But it was a drafty house
and pneumonia is nothing to
laugh at, the scene with
his anger on the stairs always
eats me alive

Just Head for the surface,
Frosty the snowman was
very irresponsible
Karen had frostbite
on her fingers
and her toes

My God

she could have died
