Great Depths by S. A. Gerber

 Perched on the
roof of a
shack at the shore,
trying to catch
a million stars
in an near
empty fifth- bottle.
How many dreams
have sank to
great depths in
the dark, vast
sea stretched out
before me? Millions.
How many tears
would it require
to fill it,
I’ve often pondered.
How many incidents
that drive us
to those tears
have affected us?
Have personally touched
those we see?
Another thing we
will never know.
How many stars
in the now
empty fifth-bottle?
How many answers?
What’s the difference?
