Addiction Riff by Catherine Arra

 Like a shot
he disappears. A time traveler.

Swish      Poof.
The hollow echo before the hush.

He’ll spin for days in a wormhole
tunneling this life or that one

jamming with Jack, Jim, Johnny
and Bud until the riff reverses,

strings break, and the boys
spit him out with vomit and piss.

He’ll land back here, where I sit
still staring at ghost-space.
