for Miles Kuras and Jessica Ryan

Sirens wail
along Lareine Avenue

while we chat 
on your rooftop tonight 
beneath low-flying planes 
and distant stars 

a few Bulleit 
and Cokes in
we glance 
five stories down

lights get closer 
nobody bats an eye.
