WINE WORDS by George Haecker

A riot of superlatives to make
Shakespeare blush, we
could choose from

citric persistence
vivid aromas
chocolate hints
rose petal scents
toasty oak
vibrant fruit
plum notes,
soft acidity
hints of limestone

that were

definitely noticeable
velvety smooth
brassy in color
deep dark purple
consumed in their youth
fleshy in the month
clean on the palate
globally appreciated with
balanced structure and

a long finish

for our glass of wine.

George Haecker is an architect with a special interest in the intersection of historic preservation and contemporary design. On occasion he writes some poetry, motorcycles and sails. He lives in Omaha, Nebraska and on Madeline Island, Wisconsin with his wife Judy. His website is: georgehaecker.com.
