I'm Still Kicking Myself over this One by Melanie Browne

Gordon Sumner,
otherwise
known as Sting
invites the ladies
on stage
to swirl
around him

We are at a
swanky conference
in D.C. my hubby
has invited me to
and I guess they
can afford him

all the ladies
indeed run up
to the stage
including the
two that
have been
standing
dead center
and laughing,
drinks in hand,
the entire
performance

My legs
like concrete
my mind willed
my body to
move,
but like
a sudden case
of
sleep paralysis
I can't

a woman a bit older
looks at me
with pity

"You should go up there,"

I shake my
head,
and watch
as the ladies
float
like sprites
around
Gordon's
Cheshire cat
grin

As he
sings and
makes magic
with  his
guitar

The stage
lights
sparkling
on a dozen
delightful
muses
