night-life By Stephen House

my best jeans saved

for friday nights

no i don’t smoke weed anymore

but thankyou

full strength beer for dancing me

i’m just getting started

there is a fucking homophobe

in the downstairs bar

sure i rock even at my age i sing

in whispers to me

what a pretty shirt he has on

and off and on again

go in the side door the bouncer says

its free for you tonight

i remember him from decades ago

in a night-life sex blur

his ripped jeans worn well

on saturday nights
