Three Haikus By Stephen Ground

 closing time

smeared turquoise lipstick

stale breath, heavy with whiskey

shame she’s my sister

folk music

he played his banjo

like a Pied Piper for drunks

stumbling home shoeless

generosity

nothing’s sadder than

the last drop of whiskey in

someone else’s glass
