INVASION by Susan Isla Tepper

Kids kicked open the door

invading her shack

One room with cot

rumpled blankets

pilled wool over the years

They dug through

all she owned

with great spirit and laughter

shredding that small life

No thought to

where she might be.

Outside the weeds

so high

they almost buried the place.
