To a Goth Princess by Tony Pena

All dolled up
in decadent black
from mascara coal
to leather corset
to fishnet nylons,
but the glimmer
in green eyes betrays
danger and dimples
on your cheeks assure me
authenticity and a bawdy
sense of humor reign
deep in your soul
even in the darkest
hours after midnight.





Tony Pena was selected as 2017-2018 Poet Laureate for the city of Beacon, New York.
